By protecting mosquitoes from dengue fever, Monash University scientists have potentially found a way of preventing the 50 million human cases of the disease reported every year


The first large-scale deployment of mosquitoes infected with Wolbachia bacteria, which makes them unable to transmit viruses, has raised hopes that the same strategy can provide a knockout blow against the Zika virus in Brazil as well.
