German coral researcher honored with statue

The exhibition “Ocean Sentinels” has opened in Townsville. The eight sculptures of the “Guardians of the Sea” were created by British artist and sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. The sculptures pay homage to renowned marine scientists and conservationists. Among them is German researcher Katharina Fabricius, who is a coral expert at the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences.
