German History Day

Did you know that the pineapple - THE symbol of tropical Queensland - does not even come from Australia? And that there was a station called "German Station” in Brisbane? No?

Until now, our Queensland correspondent Katharina Loesche didn’t know either - so she attended the German History Day during the German Week in Brisbane. For SBS, she won surprising insights into the history of the first German settlements and the history of the German Honorary Consulates in Brisbane.
