German tenor Stefan Vinke is about to embark on one of his toughest gigs: A 6.5 hour rendition of Richard Wagner's romantic opera "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg". We spoke to Vinke, on the eve of Opera Australia's monumental production in Melbourne.

"Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" will be performed on Thursday, 22 November, at the Melbourne Arts Centre. The performance starts at 4pm and includes a supper break after the second act.

Stefan Vinke last performed with OA in 2016 when he starred in the Ring Cycle. Watch the OA trailer to judge for yourself whether Vinke deserves the great acclaim he regularly receives.
That anyone can sing Siegfried, the title role in Wagner's third Ring opera, is surprising, so challenging is the role. That anyone can sing it like Stefan Vinke is astounding."
