How important are trees for the future?

As early as in 2017, a study by the Australian National University in Canberra warned that we will have to prepare for sweaty summers in the future. Melbourne and Sydney could experience 50 degree summers as early as in 2040. My colleague Barbara Barkhausen contacted Dr. Sebastian Pfautsch, a German researcher at Western Sydney University who specialises in trees. We all know that trees are important to combat climate change, but how important the planting of trees in our own gardens is for the future of our cities, that what Dr. Pfautsch explains in this interview.
