How popular is German as a foreign language in Australia?

Is it true that the popularity of German as a foreign language is decreasing year on year in Australia? If so, what can we do to reverse this trend? We spoke to Dr Tristan Lay from the Department of Germanic Studies at the University of Sydney – and were surprised to hear some astonishing facts and figures – most of them much more positive than we thought.
