This October, Michael Gillmeister from Sydney's Northern Beaches will set off into the desert again — with a decades-old car. The son of German migrants is taking part in the so-called “Shitbox Rally,” which raises money for cancer research. The car-crazy German-Australian reveals what his grandparents' ice cream company has to do with his passion for German cars, what fascinates him about the rally and his connection to Germany.
