Imagine you are a loving parent and your 4-year-old has a proper tantrum, right in the middle of a group of people. What to do? Dr Louise Porter can help. She is a published author and child psychologist who promotes the guidance approach. This methods does not use reward and punishment but a method that allows for explanations and support, allowing the children to get control over themselves again and in the long term being able to consider others. In this interview the head of the pre-school at the GISS in Sydney, Silke Bethke explains what this entails.
