Guitarist Oliver Fartach-Naini directs the guitar department at the Elder Conservatory in Adelaide and visited Sydney for the annual Guitar Summer School, where he participated as a tutor, gave a concert and launched his new CD. He came to our studio to talk to us about the collection of suites that were partly written for him personally and published on the label Ethnoclassics. On this CD, called Suite Latina, there are four soulful, finely nuanced compositions, each consisting of 4 to 6 parts for solo guitar, by Maximo Diego Pujol, Richard Charlton and Hector Ayala. He talked to us about his fondness for Latin American music, his collaboration with the composers, but also about his work at the Elder Conservatory and the differences between studying music in Australia and Germany.
