In conversation: Reif - a German band that only plays original songs

The socially engaged band Reif consists of 5 seasoned musicians who have been playing together for years. Iris Brandewiede, Marko Adam, Michael Poitier, Nicole Kühlkamp and Hans-Gerd Lietzke. I visited them during a rehearsal in Münster, and talked to all five musicians; and also recorded a song live on that occasion. They have recently produced an EP, which you can find on their website reifstyle.net. Some of them are included in this program. Their motto is: We are so free, let the others be rich and famous, we just play - because none of these excellent musicians lives on music alone. Nevertheless, or maybe because of that, they are all involved with heart and soul and write and play only their own songs, i.e. no covers. Marko writes in English, Micha sets poems by the Bengali poet Rabin Dranat Tragore to music, and Iris is a kind of bandleader and writes in German, actually most of the songs.
