Büchners Woyzeck is sad, tragic and still contemporary. The extraordinary production by director Jette Steckel with music from Tom Waits will be shown in Sydney from the 7th to the 12th of Jan. We spoke with the Director of the Thalia Theatre, Joachim Lux, one of Germanys doyens of the theatre world, about this guest performance, his search for artists he might want to invite to Germany for a festival next June, and the differences between the German attitude to the arts and that of the rest of the world.
