The Australian World Orchestra presented Gustav Mahler's 4th and 5th symphonies in Sydney. Under the direction of Alexander Briger, the “Australia's true national orchestra” impressed with a dense, energetic interpretation. Particularly impressive: Sarah Traubel's soprano solo in “Das Himmlische Leben”. The audience thanked with long applause and standing ovations — an evening that confirmed the special position of this orchestra in the musical life of Australia.
