Michael Schumacher turns 50 on January 3, but after his terrible ski accident five years ago, the birthday party will not turn out the way he deserves. "Schumi", as it is called in Germany but also worldwide by millions of fans, has written motorsport history. Never before has a racing driver managed to win seven world championship titles in Formula One. Our SBS radio correspondent and Formula 1 expert Jens Hoffmeister was present when "Schumi" drove his first Formula One race in Belgium in 1991 and also when he won his first Grand Prix at the same place in 1992 and then in 1994 Adelaide became world champion for the first time with Benetton.

Am 28. August 1992 gewinnt Michael Schumacher in einem Benetton sein erstes Formel-1-Rennen auf dem belgischen Ardennenkurs von Spa-Francorchamps, wo er ein Jahr zuvor auch sein Formel-1-Debüt gab.
