"My mom was always sad that I emigrated"

Birgit Phillips came to Australia from East Berlin 30 years ago. "This country gave me a second chance" and that is why she does not want to criticize Australia for its corona policy. But now her mother at home in Germany has been sick for three months and tied to her bed and Birgit has applied for a travel ban exemption to look after her.
