Rahel Cramer has dedicated her research to the sematic and pragmatic connotations of the expressions „relaxed", „laid-back" und „easy-going", as well as the German word „ernsthaft" (serious). Business Psychologist Dr Stefan Volk relates his impressions of the differences between working conditions in both countries, which seem more relaxed in Germany, where the attempts to make sure that everything is in order (alles in Ordnung) is prevalent. In Australia on the other hand, its a cultural norm to create the impression that there are no problems (no worries!) as Rahel Cramer explains, whereas the working conditions are generally harder and the living costs higher.
Does the greater worry of the Germans to create security maybe lead to better living conditions, where the individual does not have to worry so much, or does this attitude actually lead to more stress and seriousness?
