Adventure meets education meets Australia's outback: This is what German migrant Otto Wilhelm Schaechtele has been offering his clients for the last 25 years. His specialty are tag along tours from Perth to Alice Springs, along the famous Canning Stock Route.
Schaechtele was born in the East German town of Neukieritzsch, not far from Leipzig. He went to school near Freiburg im Breisgau and migrated to Perth from Berlin in 1991.

The clients of the former engineer turned entrepreneur are almost exclusively from Switzerland and Germany, with a few Austrians thrown into the mix.

The trip from Perth to Alice Springs and back takes 19 days to complete. The route (which is not the direct route, for scenic and other reasons) is 8000 kilometres long. Schaechtele does the trip 4-5 times annually.
