The Swiss Community of Australia celebrated the Swiss National Day on 1 August. In Melbourne, Swiss kids and their parents congregated at Federation Square with cowbells and lanterns. They then marched to the nearby Swiss Club of Victoria in Flinders Lane.


But what does the 1st of August exactly stand for? How relevant is it today? And what about that Swiss national anthem with its old-fashioned, almost creepy text? We discussed the 1st of August and its symbolism in a heartwarming studio talk.
