Kenmore State High School is one of only two public schools that offer German as a so-called "immersion program" in Brisbane. "Immersion" means that children from 7th to 10th grade are taught German in several subjects: history, geography, sports and music are on the curriculum, for example.
In addition, the Kenmore State High offers an extension program in German for grade 11 and 12 that enables the students — after their successful completion — to study in Germany. And all without having to pay the costs of a private school.
Our Queensland correspondent Katharina Loesche took a look at the state school during the graduation party among the students, teachers and parents.
