We visit the new Froebel Centre in St. Leonards, Sydney. That is the newest of the three Australian Froebel Kindergartens. We really should say Early Development Centers, because the concept goes further than simple child care. Firstly, the centers are bilingual, because the home of the not-for-profit company is Germany. But the daily routines in the centers also include other educational aims, for example in the area of science.Froebel has brought the Little Scientists program to Australia. That is a professional development program, aiming at opening a playful access to the sciences. It includes the training of the educators, who then apply these concepts in the Kindergartens. In cooperation with many network partners across Australia, and the support of the Australian federal government, this program is now extended all across the country.
