Trees "talk" to each other, says German professor in Australia

When trees sense they are being "gnawed at", they can emit chemicals that warn other trees to produce hard-to-digest leaves. It has also been scientifically proven that when trees are felled, they can emit chemicals "that encourage other trees to invest heavily in tree seeds".
