Turkish presidential elections: Runoff decides election winner

Turkish President Erdogan has been in power for over 20 years. This weekend, Turkey voted - and postponed the decision.


Currently everything points to a runoff election between Erdogan and challenger Kilicdaroglu on May 28. The election campaign was marked by the fatal earthquake in the southeast of the country, in which more than 50,000 people lost their lives. The mood seemed to tip to the side of opposition candidate Kilicdaroglu, who was ahead in election forecasts, shortly before the elections. Now we know more: The forecasts were wrong.
