Vinegar has been known for centuries as a general purpose cleaner and as a home-remedy during illness. Nowadays, all sorts of advertised, colourful cleaners replaced most of its use as a cleaning product, but is seems that apple cider vinegar as a means of weight loss is very much in vogue.
