2018: More than 1.3m US tourists expected in Greece

Greek tourism will be in the spotlight again as Athens gets ready to host a major three-day international gathering of travel agents.

The ASTA Destination EXPO 2018 — the international conference of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) — will take place in April 14-17 and is expected to contribute greatly to the promotion of Greek tourism.

Tourism organizations and travel agencies will have the opportunity to visit Greece and promote it as a destination in the coming years.

More than 80 percent of all travel agency sales are made through ASTA members and more than 240 companies have submitted applications to participate in the exhibition so far.

The Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies’ aim is to increase the number of U.S. tourists in Greece by 30 percent. It is to organize special tours to promote other Greek destinations, such as the islands of Crete, Corfu, Rhodes, Mykonos and Santorini, and the city of Thessaloniki.
