Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has paid tribute to those who fought to defend Darwin when it was bombed 75 years ago to the day*. 235 people were killed, and up to 400 were wounded, during the attacks on the city and surrounding areas by Japanese planes. Dignitaries laid weaths to commemorate the sacrifices and losses of Australians. Mr Turnbull says it was largest single attack ever mounted in Australia.
