“It was a hard fought win, convincing I think. We were very clinical in the final third, our attacking players were magnificent today. I thought we defended very well and we attacked and finished our chances very well today. You can say we were dominating in a way, but it's a grand final, and both teams are giving their best. It wasn’t pretty at times, but at the end of the day it is the score line that count s and I thought our team was very good on that sense”, Mr Saad said to the Greek Program of SBS Radio, minutes after winning the championship.
“Sanchez is an exceptional player. For me he is the best player in the whole NPL. He is a magnificent player, but he is also a very good professional and he leads by example. I have a very young team and they all look up to him, so he leads by example and he leads from the front and that's what you want your striker to be”, said Mr Saad.
Asked if he is concerned that some 'big sharks' might come for Sanchez or any other Olympic player after this year’s success, he said that “I love to see my players playing at the next level also”.
“This is a dress rehearsal for they careers and I think three or four of them are definitely more than good enough to play in the A-League or play overseas”.
Commenting on what this year’s double mean for him personally, Abbas Saad said “Individual honors are always nice but I think it’s more the team honors and for the club.”
“The club has been part of my whole life. I grew up with Sydney Olympic, I played here, I won in every age level with Sydney Olympic. To do it as a coach is tremendous”.
