The St John of Damascus Choir in Adelaide is performing a concert of Byzantine Music this Sunday 19 May. Choir master, Nick Biris, talked to SBS Greek about the event, the choir and his own relationship with ecclesiastical music.

The concert is part of Festival Hellenica in Adelaide.

The choir will perform traditional hymns from the Resurrection up until the Pentecost.  Some of the songs will be in Greek, while others in English and Romanian.

The choir will draw from the works of prominent songwriters, whose work goes back almost 300 years.

The concert will be held at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Thebarton, at 18:30.
