Professor Kanarakis has taught Linguistics in tertiary institutions in Greece, USA and Australia. He has contributed greatly to educational literature on the process of language learning, bilingualism and the teaching of languages.
The award he will be receiving in name after Hypatia, who was a Hellenistic Neoplatonist philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician. She lived in Alexandria, Egypt, then part of the Eastern Roman Empire. She was a prominent thinker of the Neoplatonic school in Alexandria, where she taught philosophy and astronomy.
Professor Kanarakis spoke to our program about the award and elaborated in his University career and works. The event will take place on September 29th at the premises of AHEPA in the Sydney Suburd of Rockdale.
