Two English football teams have the upper hand to qualify to this year’s on the Europa League final after today’s results in the first matches for the semi-finals.

Two English football teams have the upper hand to qualify to this year’s on the Europa League final after today’s results in the first matches for the semi-finals.


Arsenal defeated Valencia 3-1 in England, while Chelsea had a valuable 1-1 draw in Germany from Eintracht Frankfurt. The second leg matches are next week.

In Australia the Finals series for the A league begin tonight, when Melbourne Victory plays host to Wellington. On Sunday  Adelaide United will clash with Melbourne City meeting will be held on Sunday.

In tennis, Stefanos Tsitsipas plays tonight at 10 (AEST) at the Estoril Open. His opponent is the Portuguese Joao Domingues.

In state football leagues, Sydney Olympics plays Saturday night away with Marconi.
