Ashleigh Barty has made history by winning her first Grand Slam in France last night and she now holds the second place in the women's world rankings.

It was a night full of achievements for Ashleigh Barty. Her victory over Czech Marketa Vondrousova marked not only her first Grand Slam title, but also the first time in 46 years that a female Tennis player wins the tournament. The last one to do so was Margaret Court in 1973.

Barty is the second Indigenous Australian to win the title, behind seven-time grand slam winner Evonne Goolagong Cawley.

Barty will be the world's no. 2 female tennis player on Monday.
