Aussie doctors push for tax on ‘killer’ sugar to combat obesity

The Australian Medical Association (AMA) has labelled sugar a “killer” that must be taxed in a bid to stop the nation’s ballooning obesity crisis.


Among the AMA’s 20 recommendations is taxing sugary beverages - including fruit juices - by up to 40 cents a drink to reduce the amount it is consumed.
