A report that looks into the pay inequality between men and women elite athletes has attracted the attention of major Australian sports organisations such as the AFL and NRL.

The report, titled "Pathway to Pay Equality", is by the ‘’Male Champions of Change’’ institute, an organisation that works with promiment leaders to re-evaluate the role of males in addressing gender inequality.

According to the institute’s founder, Elizabeth Broderick, the report is a plan for the next five years to address the pay gap between men and women in sports.

"It really is about a pathway over the next five years which would see women paid equally with men as elite athletes. But it's not just about that - it's also about access to sport, women's participation in sport equally with men, it's about equal investment and sponsorship in sport."

Already organisations such as the AFL, Tennis Australia and the NRL have committed to abide by the report’s suggestions.
