In an atmosphere of deep emotion and mourning, Australia’s Greek-orthodox flock farewelled today its late Archbishop Stylianos.


He passed away on Monday 25th March at the age of 83. It was the same that in the orthodox calendar the “Annunciation of Theotokos” is celebrated, and the Greek nation has its Independence anniversary.

The funeral service took place ta the Cathedral in Redfern and the burial at Rookwood cemetery.

The late Stylianos was primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia for 44 years.
