Barnaby Joyce, who has led in the pats the National party, says he will be a candidate for the leadership, if there is a spill against current leader Michael McCormack at Tuesday’s party room meeting.
The saga has been triggered by the resignation of deputy leader Bridget McKenzie over the so-called "sports rorts" saga.
Talking to Channel 7 on Monday morning Mr Joyce said he would run for the leadership of the party if his colleagues voted for a spill of both the leader and deputy leader positions.

Meanwhile, Green’s are in search for a new leader, after the resignation of Richard Di Natale. The party room is expected to elect new leader and deputy leaders on Tuesday morning.
