"Beyond Attica: Art of Magna Graecia" is an exceptional collection of vase-wear from early Athenian black-figure to later Apulian, Campanian and Lucanian red-figure vessels from south Italy. Greek Australian art collector George Koumantatakis talks to SBS Greek.
The Hellenic Museum's exhibition, "Beyond Attica: Art of Magna Graecia" was officially launched by the Greek Consul General Dimitrios Michalopoulos.
Keynote speaker, Dr Gillian Shepherd, Director of the Trendall centre at La Trobe University, provided insight into both the art of Magna Graecia and this extraordinary collection.
The exhibition's artefacts are on loan from the Koumantatakis Family, a vast collection of vases from Athenian black-figure to later red-figure ware from south Italy.
