Australia’s most senior Greek Orthodox cleric, Assistant Bishop of Dervi, Mr Ezekiel, regards the new elected Archbishop of Australia, Mr Makarios as a person of his time who has excelled in his Theology and Bioethics studies. In an interview with SBS Radio’s Greek Program, Mr Ezekiel, provides his thoughts for the break up of the Archdiocese into Metropolises.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, with great joy, makes it known to all the faithful that the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which convened on Thursday 9th May 2019 under the chairmanship of his All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Barholomew, unanimously elected Bishop Makarios of Christoupolis as the New Archbishop of Australia.

On behalf of all clergy and laity, we congratulate the new Archbishop Makarios and await his arrival.
