Queensland’s Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe has sacked the Logan City Council after allegations of corruption.
Last week, the Crime and Corruption Commission charged 8 of the councilors, including Mayor Luke Smith, with causing dishonest detriment to Sharon Kelsey.
Mr. Hinchliffe announced his decision in Parliament yesterday morning and has drafted a letter informing the Governor of his decision.
Mr. Hinchliffe has recommended to the Governor that the Council be run by special administrators until the next local government elections in 2020.
The councilors charged are to appear in court at the end of the month.
