The city of Sydney boasts of two primates in terms of the Greek Orthodox Churches.

It hosts the first Greek Orthodox church founded not only in Australia but also in the southern hemisphere, the Church of the Holy Trinity in Surry Hills, the foundation stone was laid in 1898, and the first Greek Orthodox Cathedral, again not only in Australia but also southern hemisphere, St. Sophia's Church in Paddington that began operating in 1927.

Both churches are now registered in Australia's cultural heritage halls. The Holy Trinity years ago, and then St. Sophia.

Now there is an effort to make St. Sophia a monument of the whole of Australia and launch a campaign to restore the temple, as the weather leaves its mark.

President of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW, Harry Danalis, as St. Sophia, as well as the Holy Trinity, belong to the potential of the Greek Community, discusses more with Themi Kallos.
