Thousands of students in Australia’s capital gathered at the city’s Glebe Park, to take part in a global movement about climate change. More in this week’s correspondence with Yiota Eleftheriou.
People of all ages gathered with the city’s students at Glebe park, three days before the UN climate Summit in New York.
The crowds in Canberra demanded the following from the government:
-The termination of all coal, oil and gas projects, including the Adani coalmine which threatens the health of the Great Barrier Reef.
-A complete (100%) transition into renewable energy by the year 2030.
-Funding the transition of coal workers to other sectors.
