The Cats and the Canary band, which consists mainly of Greek immigrants, cover well-known Greek songs, through a western prism and influenced by the latest trends in the Greek Pentagram.
Songs of artists such as Manolis Chiotis, Vasilis Tsitsanis, Arleta and more recent ones such as Leonidas Balafas and Mirela Pahou they are populated with modern sound and instruments not so traditional for Greek music, such as electric guitar, drums and saxophone.
"I do not think there is any negative reaction to this kind of music, certainly to some seem strange when they have grown up with instruments like the bouzouki, the lyre or the lute, but most have said good words about both our music and the bands that play professionally this music in Greece, "said bassist and one of the creators of the band, Odysseas Kripotos.
