Sydney Olympic FC announced a restructure of its board, bringing in some new faces and financial support to lead the club into its next exciting phase of development. The new president is Bill Papas (Vasilis Papadimitriou). More in this report by Themi Kallos who talks to Mr Papadimitriou and the outogoing president, Chris Tsioulos.

The refresh sees the addition of new Board members Francis Farmakidis, Darren McCoubrie and Bill Papas, with Bill assuming the leadership role as President. Board members Kimon Giannopoulos and Terry Gavrilidis will continue in their positions to ensure continuity at Board level, with Chris Tsioulos and Keith Rovers moving into Board sub-committees looking after special projects whilst Arthur Balayannis, Peter Kyra, and Frank Alexiadis will be supporting various operational elements of the Club.
At this time, Id like to acknowledge the contributions of Vice President Graham Athanaseris and past and present Board members during my 6 years on the board, 3 as President said Chris Tsioulos, outgoing President, Sydney Olympic FC. "Id like to thank them for their support in delivering upon the key initiatives which have ensured the foundations for the future
The project with Marrickville Council for the redevelopment of the Tempe Reserve and Jet's sports club sites where the Club has just signed an exclusive dealing agreement; the signing of a 21-year agreement with Canterbury Council for the use of Belmore Sports Ground, Peter Moore Field and Tasker Park and seeing the club win a premiership, the youth club championship, making it to the grand final in 2014, excelling in the FFA Cup and recently winning the inaugural Bank of Sydney Cup are just a few of the achievements that we can all be extremely proud of.
I would also like to thank Marrickville Council and Canterbury City Council as well as Newington College whose continued support is of vital importance to us.
I am confident that with Bill leading the team, we will not only see Sydney Olympic FC realise its goals on the field, we will also see the fostering of a broader community appeal and more ways to become involved with the Club said Tsioulos.
The new Board and I have a vision for the Club that I am confident our supporters will be excited about as they travel with us on the journey said Bill Papas, new Club President. I am extremely honoured to accept the role of President and will utilise my extensive experience in building businesses and networks to take the Club to new heights - such as working with Marrickville Council to realise the Tempe Project."
Sydney Olympic FCs heritage is something to be extremely proud of, rich in culture and diversity, with a loyal and passionate supporter base. It is our intention to build upon this great community, with a priority focus on the development of the youth of the Club - the future stars of tomorrow.
For now, its business as usual. Our focus is on our season launch on the 29th of February to kick off what no doubt will be a great year for Sydney Olympic FC said Papas.
