Greece suffered a humiliating 3-2 home defeat to Armenia, for the 4th round of the Qualifying games for Euro 2020.

The result means Greece now has slim chances of making it to the finals.

Captain Sokratis Papastathopoulos said ‘this national team does not deserve to be in the finals”, prompting coach Angelos Anastasiadis to say “if that is what he thinks he should relieve him from duties with the team, and allow those who believe in the wualification to continue”.

This was the second straight loss for the Greek side in Athens, as they lost 3-0 on the weekend to Italy.

These results have intensified the rumors for Mr Anastasiadis to be removed, however he seems to have to confidence from the administration of the Greece’s Football federation.

Apart from Greece, Cyprus also lost this morning to Russia 1-0, for Euro’s qualifications.

The next matches are in early September.
