Cyprus has imposed a total of €35 million in taxes to 85 accounts included in the so-called Lagarde list, Minister of Finance Harris Georgiades told a joint meeting of the Parliamentary Committees of Public Expenditure Control and Ethics on Tuesday. Minister Mr Georgiades said these taxes concern 88 cases connected to 85 accounts for the year 2003, adding that possibly more taxes will be imposed for the later years.Taxation has been imposed on 88 taxpayers. These taxes concern 85 accounts for 2003, he said, adding however that none of the imposed taxes have been collected, as these persons have the right to object to the taxation.The Finance Minister noted that the list contains 490 profiles of legal or natural persons, Cypriots or foreigners linked with Cyprus, of whom 87 are not linked to an account, whereas the remaining 403 profiles appear to be linked to 361 accounts, which held deposits that amounted to €827 million at their peak.The Cypriot Authorities received the so-called Lagarde list in August 2015 after consultations with the French taxation authorities. The list, containing accounts held in Swiss HSBC, was named after Christine Lagarde, former French Finance Minister and currently IMF Managing Director, as it was obtained by the French Authorities in 2009 from one of the bank`s computer technicians.Responding to questions, Georgiades said that a total of €36 billion have been collected in taxes in the last decade, adding however that uncollected taxes amount to €2 billion.
