World number one Novak Djokovic and Greek rising star Stefanos Tsitsipas exchanged warm pleasantries after their final in Madrid Open which saw the Serb winning his 33rd Masters 1000 title.
The 31yr old needed one hour and 32 minutes to beat his 20-yr old opponent 2-0 sets (6-3, 6-4).
After the match, Tsistipas praised Djokovic sayiing that his achievements are inspiring the next generation of tennis players.
Djokovic thanked Tsitsipas and said that he has a bright future ahead of him, and he is happy that he can witness the greatness of Tsitsipas.
Sakkari makes it to the main draw in Rome
In women’s tennis, Maria Sakkari beta 2-0 (6-2, 7-5) set the German Andrea Petkovic and qualified to the main dray of Rome’s Italian Open.
She will be playing Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first Round
