This Wednesday, February 28, Dr. Alfred Vincent, will give a talk about ''Food and Drink in Early Modern Greece''. We hear more in the interview he gave to Themi Kallos.

The ''Mediterranean diet'' is often recommended as a key to good health. But how old and how traditional it is? What did Greeks eat before the introduction of potatoes, tomatoes and other foreign foods? How far did the rich eat differently from the poor? How were issues of food security addressed? What was the role of wine in people's diet? Answers can be found in memoirs and archival documents, especially from areas formerly underwester domination, such as Crete, Cyprus and the Ionian Islands. Alfred will present the results of research on these topics. The event is hosted by the archaelogical Intitute at Athens and is part of the 36th Greek Festival of Sydney.

The event will take place at the University of Sydney, room 480, Madsen Building F09, near the City Rd entrance.

PLEASE NOTE: The event starts at 6:30pm, not at 6:00pm as it is printed in the festival's program.

Refreshments will be served.

Entry is free, however those interested have to book their seats in advance. For bookings call 9351 4759 or send an email to arts.aaia@sydney.edu.au
