Currently, Micare is in urgent need of volunteers who speak Greek to participate in their visiting programs. Especially women.
«We are especially looking for females who are interested in becoming volunteers» Mrs. Trustsch says.
According to Mrs. Trustsch, right now there are at least five Greeks who are in need of company in various parts of Melbourne, such as Bulleen, Central and Rye. In addition another program in Frankston that organises meet-ups between Greeks is also in need of help.
What can the volunteers expect?
Volunteers will visit the elderly and keep company. They could do a number of activities such as playing games, listen to music and read books. They will also be able to attend workshops and events specifically for Micare volunteers. The important thing however, is that during their time in the program, they will be able to form lasting friendships with the people they visit.
