Australian Energy Minister Angus Taylor has called on other countries to embrace new technologies to reduce their carbon emissions.

A global assessment of countries' emissions trajectories shows Australia, the United States and Saudi Arabia are among major polluters showing hardly any signs of reducing their greenhouse gas production.

The Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) measures the emissions, renewable energy share, and climate policies of 57 countries and the European Union.

It found the U-S ranks last, followed by Saudi Arabia and Australia, with Sweden leading the way in reducing emissions.
