Turkey's President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be meeting next Wednesday with his US counterpart, Donald Trump. This comes after Mr Erdogan made a remark against Mr Erdogan, as he announced that his country has captured family members of the late IS group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Turkey announced it has captured one of Bagdhadi's wives, his sister and his brother in law. During the announcement, Mr Erdogan remarked on the way the US handled the news of Baghdadi's death.
“The United States said Baghdadi killed himself in a tunnel. They started a communication campaign about this,” Erdogan said.
“But, I am announcing it here for the first time: We captured his wife and didn’t make a fuss like them. Similarly, we also captured his sister and brother in law in Syria,” he said while give a speech at Ankara University.
Despite concerns that he will posopone his scheduled visit to Washington, due to the tension between the two countries, the Turkish president said he will be meeting with Donald Trump next Wednesday. Mr Trump also confirmed this through a tweet.
