It was a tough morning today for SAEK Athens, PAOK Salonica and Apollo Limassol in their second leg matches for the play offs of Europa league

AEK, having lost in Athens 1-3 to Trabznspor needed a miracle to qualify. It almost happened. The Greek team won in Turkey 0-2. The needed one more goal which never came.

In Salonica, PAOK had the chances, but managed to win 3-2 over Slovan. The  Bratislava team won with their 1-0 win in the first leg.

Lastly, Apollo, having lost in the Netherlands 3-0 to PSV, wanted something decent in Limassol. To the contrary the Cypriot team suffered a gig humiliation. The Dutch team won 0-4. One of their goals was scored by green International , Kostas Mitroglou.

The only team from Greece and Cyprus that made it to the group stage of the Europa League is APOEL Nicosia
