The facility at rural Emerald is the first of its kind out of a cohort of 100 to be set up in Australian funded by the Federal Government.

Staffed by local GPs, a new clinic is ready to open in rural Queensland as part of the national coronavirus response plan.

Dr. Ewan McPhee who will be leading the clinic said:

"These are assessment clinics, these are about seeing people who have symptoms and are concerned they have COVID-19.

"We'll assess them and decide if people meet the criteria for testing or not, providing reassurance where they don't, and providing other treatment if they've got other infections.”
