Liberal MP and former Health Minister Sussan Ley, says she is optimistic that a private member's bill to end the practice of live sheep exports will gain traction among her Coalition colleagues. Dina Gerolymou and Themis Kallos discuss the story.
The former sheep farmer earlier today (Monday 21 MAy) introduced a private member's bill to ban the sheep trade to the Middle East over five years, with a three-month freeze in the meantime over the European summer from July to September.
The bill goes against the federal government's policy on live exports.
